Surprise Day 15

The Rangers played another intrasquad game on Wednesday and Kameron Loe was the most impressive player, retiring seven of his nine hitters and allowing two walks. Loe attributed the walks to jitters, and was very good overall. He has already nailed down a spot in the rotation according to Buck Showalter.

Prospect John Danks also turned heads, not allowing any of the five batters he faced to reach. Vicente Padilla pitched for the first time in game action and allowed one run on three hits in two innings. D'Angelo Jimenez had a home run and David Dellucci a double to score a run before the game was stopped after the top of the sixth.

The only bad news was a groin injury to Laynce Nix that forced him to leave the game. The depth in the outfield may turn out to be very important, as many of the outfielders have been forced to miss time with nagging injuries. Gary Matthews probably won't return until next week, and C.J. Wilson is progressing well in his recovery from a strained hamstring.
