Surprise Day 4

Sorry I'm a little late on this update; here's the latest news from spring training.

Michael Young, in camp early before he heads out to the World Baseball Classic, suffered a very minor injury when a groundball clipped his fingernail and splattered some blood on his uniform. Young iced it and applied a bandage, so there shouldn't be any worry there.

Marshall McDougall is recovering from wrist surgery and expects to start the season on the disabled list. McDougall had a great season last year at Oklahoma, but he is too old to be considered a prospect and probably isn't in the team's plans.

Tom Hicks will be in Surprise on Monday for the official start of spring training meeting, but will be leaving on Tuesday. I never have liked Tom Hicks, but I am thankful that he actually tried to improve the club this winter, so for now I'll hold back on the criticism.

Aarom Baldiris and Armando Galarraga are targeting the end of the week to be in camp. Both players have been delayed because of visa issues in Venezuela.

It was a pretty slow day in Surprise on Saturday, so there's not a whole lot to report. Hank Blalock and Gary Matthews have joined the team, so almost all of the players have arrived. The official deadline for the position players is Monday.
