Surprise Day 13

Chances are good that we'll see Brian Anderson in the Rangers rotation by the end of the year. Anderson is in camp on a minor league contract and won't be ready for the start of the season because of Tommy John surgery. However, according to pitching coach Mark Connor he has been working very hard to get back ahead of schedule. Anderson is extremely competitive by nature and is a Buck Showalter favorite from his days in Arizona, so if the usual problems hit the pitching staff he's a good guy to have in reserve.

Kevin Millwood plans to take it slow as usual as spring training moves into March. He probably won't pitch in A games until the very end of March and will instead work in B games and intrasquad games. Millwood has a history of slow starts and bad numbers in spring training, so this is normal for him.

David Dellucci and Gary Matthews have been battling injuries but both outfielders are expected to play in the intrasquad games the next couple of days. These minor injuries are one of the reasons Jon Daniels has been reluctant to deal one of the outfielders, as the Rangers have a surplus at that position.

The scorecards are still a work in progress. I'll continue to work on those and hopefully they will be accessible in time for opening day. And speaking of opening day, yesterday my dad bought our tickets. He, my brother, and I will be skipping school to attend. It will be our second straight opening day and fourth consecutive year of skipping a day of school to go to a game.
